Peer Rutten

Peer Rutten grew up in Helden and showed an interest in depicting the world around him from an early age. His talent was quickly noticed by those around him, resulting in countless portraits of acquaintances and friends. Although some of these drawings are years old, they have lost none of their clarity and authenticity. After studying graphic design in Eindhoven, Peer quickly established himself as an illustrator and designer at an advertising agency. He now makes good use of the computer to carry out his commissions. Perhaps that is why, in his free time, he specifically seeks ways to express his personal, artistic qualities. Perhaps it is even the illustrator who, during the day, stokes the fire within the artist, making it burn brightly in the evenings.

The “No” series, which came about by chance after a drawing titled “No-body.” In this series, letters and numbers are a key part of the artwork. The letters incorporated into the pieces come from a collection of used letters and numbers that he has digitally documented over the past few years. The criteria these letters and numbers must meet is that they have “stood the test of time.” They are often simply lying on the street. However, most people don’t see them and just walk right past them. In this series, they are given a new identity and often even take center stage (as the title of the work). The foundation of the “No Series” comes primarily from the “Terras” series, with the addition of these letters.
