Henk Vierveijzer

Vierveijzer (1950) completed his studies at the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg. After taking advantage of the BKR program for several years, he began exhibiting his work here and there. He drew inspiration primarily from the “Neue Wilden,” but especially from Alphons Freimuth (New Figuration). His work also bears unmistakable similarities to CoBrA and is therefore very colorful.

There is always a certain irony in Vierveijzer’s work—sometimes provocative… but sometimes also quite painful. Vierveijzer usually places his human and animal figures in alienating situations.

His work is particularly popular in Denmark, where the artist is permanently represented in several galleries.
