Hannes Kuiper

Hannes Kuiper. A musician, poet, and painter from Haarlem. Sometimes, on Saturdays, Hannes Kuiper walks through the city, pushing a large, brightly colored beast on wheels in front of him. His “ephemeral sculpture.” He calls it “letting his imagination run free for a moment.”

Artists often don’t have a concrete answer to the question of what art is. They usually lose themselves in convoluted and, above all, obscure stories. Hannes, however, is clear. “Art is the materialization of the imagination,” he says. For him, it doesn’t matter whether it’s paintings, poems, or music. Nor does it matter if it’s ephemeral. In fact, he prefers it that way. That, in turn, creates space for new imagination.
