Frits Peeters

Frits Peeters is a Dutch artist from Limburg who has been exhibiting his work since the late 1980s, primarily in the southern part of the Netherlands. He has lived for years in the heart of ’s-Hertogenbosch, near the Markt, where daily city life—the setting up of market stalls, the sounds of steel, wood, and passing trucks—serves as an important source of inspiration for his work.

Peeters is known for his “City Noises” series, in which he translates urban sounds and dynamics into images. His style is characterized by bright colors, industrial settings, strong contrasts, and turbulent scenes. He has also created several series centered on fairgrounds and industrial spaces, often using mixed media on paper.

His body of work reveals a fascination with movement, energy, and the raw aesthetics of urban and industrial environments, through which he has developed a recognizable and powerful visual language.
