William Scott was an influential abstract artist from Northern Ireland, known for his still lifes, landscapes, and female nudes. He is considered the most internationally recognized painter from Ulster of the 20th century. His early life was chronicled by his son, James Scott, in the film *Every Picture Tells a Story*. He was born in Greenock, Scotland, and moved to Enniskillen in 1924, where he took his first drawing lessons.
