Hans Buenk

Hans Buenk was born in Nijkerk in 1953. After completing teacher training, he began working as an art teacher in Zwolle. Living in a rural area on the outskirts of Zwolle, he became fascinated by the simplicity and tranquility of the Overijssel landscape. The anatomical structure and the spotted skin allow Hans Buenk to use a broader spectrum of colors. Cows have gone from being a secondary subject to the main focus of his work. At the same time, the landscape surrounding the cow has become more abstract. Hans Buenk employs various techniques, which offer him many possibilities for capturing the subtle shapes and colors of cows.
