Dorine Latenstein

Dorine lives and works in The Hague and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague in 1988. For a long time, portraits of children were her sole passion, but these days she focuses primarily on photography inspired by nature.

Dorine: “I want to show the unadulterated beauty of nature.” The vulnerability and honesty of flowers fuel Dorine’s inspiration: what you see is what you get. The challenge is always to capture and preserve that authenticity and uniqueness.

She collects sticks, pebbles, twigs, and other natural finds wherever she goes to create the most beautiful compositions with flowers. Whether something turns out well is always up to nature. “Good lighting, the sun breaking through, a falling drop—I can’t make anything more beautiful than nature itself. The photos aren’t retouched; they’re printed in all their purity.”
