Yann Arthus-Bertrand (1946, Paris) did not begin his career behind a camera, but among animals. As a young man, he worked at a nature reserve in France and later in Kenya, where he spent years observing a pride of lions. That period shaped his view of the world: he discovered that you only truly understand what you see when you take the time to look. His fascination with behavior, rhythm, and landscapes eventually led him to photography, where he further developed his ability to read stories in shapes and patterns.

In the 1990s, Arthus-Bertrand found his own signature style: aerial photography. From helicopters and later drones, he captured the Earth as a living organism, full of veins, scars, and unexpected geometry. His global project *La Terre vue du ciel* (*Earth from Above*) became a cultural phenomenon and established him as one of the most influential visual voices in the fields of nature and sustainability. His images—from emerald-green deltas to symmetrical farm fields—reveal both the beauty and the fragility of our planet.

In addition to being a photographer, Arthus-Bertrand is an outspoken environmental activist. He founded the organization GoodPlanet, produced documentaries such as HOME and Human, and increasingly used his work as a means to raise awareness about climate change, inequality, and the relationship between humanity and the Earth. His body of work is a constant call to responsibility: an invitation not only to look, but also to act. In doing so, he has emerged as an artist who links aesthetics to urgency, and beauty to engagement.
