Ina Arends

Growing up at sea as a sailor’s daughter, her imagination and sense of fantasy were nourished by her childhood journeys. She would spend days gazing at the waves and clouds, never knowing where her next adventure would take her—to another city, another country.

She studied painting at the art academy and began her career as an artist in Amsterdam. After receiving several scholarships from the Dutch Fund for Visual Arts, it was time to pack her bags in search of new adventures. A long voyage on a coastal freighter, an impressive trip to New York’s museums, and after a stint in Lisbon, she spent quite some time in Paris before settling in Brussels for several years.

Interdisciplinary work has always fascinated her, and she began collaborating in the worlds of dance and performance. She worked for a creative laboratory and spent a decade at the forefront of the food design world. She managed many high-profile, exciting projects and traveled to Tokyo, New York, Berlin, Paris, Taipei, Kyiv, and Madrid. But ultimately, Ina is and remains a visual artist, and she is very happy to be back to her roots, creating beautiful artworks once again. She works from her large studio, surrounded by nature in a small village near the largest lake in the Netherlands. Back to her roots—clouds and water—with all possibilities open.
