I’ve been making little figures since 1997. My head is always full of images of little figures—figures lost in thought, walking, or flying. I try to capture a little figure at a moment when I understand him, when I grasp what’s going on inside him.

I usually make large little men out of polyester. This material is ideal for sculptures; it’s fairly easy to create intricate shapes with it. It’s strong and weather-resistant. And every imaginable color is possible. Lately, I’ve been creating smaller figures. They’re the ones that have been on my mind lately. These sculptures are a bit more manageable and easier to display in the home.
