Hans Innemee

Hans InnemTe (born Hans Peeters, 1951) is internationally renowned. His works have been exhibited in Amsterdam, Heidelberg, Barcelona, Paris, Ravenna, Tokyo, Kyoto, Matsuyama, Sapporo, and Osaka, among other places.

This visual artist, illustrator, and musician has a unique, recognizable style characterized by graphic, stylized images of animal figures such as birds, frogs, and mice. The chicken, in particular—depicted as a round circle with a diagonal beak and rake-like feet—serves as a recurring motif throughout his work. In many of his works, the depicted figures are shown to be connected and interacting with one another. The titles of his paintings often emphasize this further.

"In my work, I poke fun at myself and my fellow human beings. It’s often the most trivial situations that can deeply move me. Grand, front-page-making events are usually beyond my grasp. I like to share my experiences and what touches me."

InnemTe completed his studies at the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg. He has also established himself as an artist in this city. He uses a technique he developed himself, in which he creates monotype drawings on blotting paper, which are then mounted on handmade Thans paper (made from the bark of the mulberry tree). These are then glued onto wooden panels and colored with oil pastels.
