Martin Copier ART

Martin Copier graduated from the St. Joost Academy in Breda in 2005 and has been working as an independent artist ever since.

His work is layered, and you can sense the calm and patience with which he creates his art using traditional techniques. He suggests movement and depth and combines painting techniques with woodcut prints. In addition, in many of his works, he uses homemade tools to stamp paint onto the canvas. This technique creates a unique texture of paint that makes it seem as though he is weaving with paint. He likes to immerse himself in a project. He wants to delve deeper into it and make it his own, exploring where the boundaries lie. He is an artist driven by passion who is constantly creating. He embraces the freedom an artist needs to express what he feels as a necessity. His exploration of space stems from a deep inner conviction. It is fascinating how he influences space and creates a field of tension within it by adding elements such as openings, lines, light, or his signature woodcut prints featuring moving figures. In his work, he demonstrates that occupying space is a choice—and the same applies to giving space, sharing space, or claiming space. His work thus becomes an encouragement, an affirmation to follow your own path. As a viewer, you are drawn into his work and find yourself in a new universe. Martin Copier challenges the viewer to open themselves up to his world.
