Jens Olsen

Jens Olsen’s work is a visual ode to humanity in all its facets: powerful, colorful, and multi-layered. At the heart of his compositions are human-like figures, often in motion or interacting, who not only serve as the subject but also as vessels of emotion, identity, and social dynamics. Throughout his body of work, Olsen explores the relationship between people, their environment, and their interconnectedness—a theme that is palpable in both his visual language and his creative process.

The paintings emerge from an energetic working method, in which large swaths of paint are applied to the canvas intuitively and expressively. This approach results in a vibrant texture and a dynamic use of color that reflects the diversity of humanity. It is striking that the figures truly come to life through the painted environmental elements: abstract backgrounds, urban allusions, or landscape fragments that reinforce and contextualize the human presence.

Olsen’s works exude vitality—not only through the palette and brushwork, but also through the interaction between the depicted figures. A kind of visual dialogue emerges, a “conversation piece” in which the viewer is invited to participate.

Behind the pseudonym Jens Olsen lies an artist collective, with Daan Noordewier as a prominent member. This collaboration enables the group to explore a wide range of styles and techniques, while maintaining Olsen’s recognizable signature. The Olsen Group produces both paintings and prints, appealing to a broad audience—from private collectors to corporate art rental companies.

Through their work, the Olsen Group positions itself at the intersection of expressive art and social reflection. Jens Olsen’s art is not only decorative but also invites dialogue: about humanity, about space, and about the power of visual communication.
