After completing her studies at the KABK in The Hague between 1959 and 1965, she began creating tapestries, mostly featuring animals and plants. She then went on to create pastels, primarily of landscapes and still lifes.
Around 1992, she began creating linocuts, initially with only a few printing passes, but over time she developed this technique to such an extent that she was also able to work in halftones (see intaglio) and transparencies, resulting in later works that often consisted of 15 or more printing passes. Because Betty printed everything by hand, this was very labor-intensive, which is why the print run often did not exceed five copies.
Betty Scheer passed away on January 13, 2006
